There's a number of issues to solve especially with adapting a vintage nostalgia motorcycle from the 70's.
Excalibur was campaigned on 27 Nov 2011 at the Spring Nats, NZ. The datalogger was recording 02, EGT, MAP, MPH and G-force. I hope to have RPM sorted soon. Certainly with the Microsquirt ECU, we will have a compatible tach signal but the Boyer box doesn't produce a 0 -5v feed.
The MPH sensor took a bit of research to solve. A hall effect sensor model 1gt101dc which I bought from Element14 needed a 1k ohm pull up resistor to bring the signal within range for the DL-32. Spring washers were added to the six bolt heads on the rear disk so they protruded the necessary 5mm as pickups. The sensor itself has the magnet internally so the bolts only need to be steel (ferrous).
Logworks software, Channel 3 was configured:
F -frequency
Normal (15hz max)
0.0mph = 0.0v
197mph = 5v
This view is what's beneath the bodywork/seat. It's a tight squeeze! To the right of the datalogger is the LC-1 with some considerable surplus of cabling. This with be trimmed down once a final location can be settled upon.
Here is a datalog extract from the Prestone Spring Nationals, New Zealand. 2011
Looks like a few issues to solve!
18March2013: The datalogger wasn't used throughout 2011-2012 season while I struggled with the Microsquirt spark.
