The hubs are motocross laced with alloy rims. The rear wheel was mounted and trued in the jig. The forks and front wheel were positioned to give the desired rake and to finalize the exact location of the steering head. In the mockup stage, it was discovered that the top tubes could have a clear, straight run from axle to headstock. Only a slight kink was planned for head/rockerbox access. The rear axle box section was made longer to enable wheelbase adjustment if required.
The wheelbase was made longer than a stock bonnie to discourage wheel stand while thought was given to the placement of the motor also. Here it was reasoned that the further forward the engine, the more it would inhibit lifting the front wheel. Moving the engine back would gain traction though at the risk of front lifting.
