Preparing the pieces

Hours of preparation, with lots of late nights in the shed. The photo below right shows gearbox quadrant with some metal removed. This is hardened steel. It currently runs on a hollow steel spindle. The studs alongside are gearbox and head items. Both are necked to the root diameter of the thread. The washers are 7075 T6 alloy which machines fantastically well.
This shows some of the lightening to the gearbox outer components. The shaft is hollow, losing quite a lot of material. I wondered if it would leak because it's hollow but it doesn't cause any issue so far.
