The Amal carbs run straight methanol. These are the pair I used on my circuit racebike so were already set up. There's a number of considerations regarding using methanol. Fuel mixture is 2.2 times more than gasoline so the feed to carbs MUST be adequate! It's also known for being corrosive and attracting moisture. We drain the fuel after use. Throats are 30mm. Slides are hard chrome on brass. The carbs have been jetted with #600 mains. Float bowl utilizes aluminium big bore needle valves. Carb slide needle is a methanol type with appropriate "oversize drilled" needle jet.
Fuel lines are regular clear 8mm nylon air line with nylon pushlok fittings.
The tank is custom made from brass tube and old light fittings as end caps! It holds 600ml of which 3 -400ml per run is consumed. A ball-valve tap is used to ensure high flow. Breather/overflow runs to the catch tank. Pic shows bike after first motor run in November 2010.
